“This short film explores the theme of aging and death from a child-like point of view, giving it the most distant and natural touch possible.”
Story & voice: Roland Brückner. Animation: Alexander Gellner.

What Children Really Get Out of a Montessori Education

February 22, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

This is a talk by Montessori Foundation President, Tim Seldin, to Montessori educators on the outcomes of a Montessori education that we typically see in children by age twelve.
A system of true values with long term benefits.

“Montessori schools are independent and nonsectarian. The spirituality that I mention has to do with one’s sense that we are part of the web of life, that the Earth is part the cosmos, and that we are all part of the human family. We seek to inspire a sense of wonder, global understanding, a tradition of giving back to our communities through service, and a sense of personal integrity and peace.” Tim Seldin

“The goal of the PSA is to encourage citizens to stand up for public workers in violent confrontations. The augmented reality billboard, placed above a busy intersection in Amsterdam, shows a real-time view of the street below but superimposes a green screen-filmed street fight into the otherwise empty curb space. As passersby stop to stare at themselves on the billboard, they are confronted with a tense altercation occurring right in front of them.”

Partial Transcript:
“If you are a version of the shirtless dancing guy, all alone, remember the importance of nurturing your first few followers as equals, making everything clear about the movement, not you. Be public. Be easy to follow!

There is no movement without the first follower … The best way to make a movement, if you really care, is to courageously follow and show others how to follow.” Derek Sivers
